The Story of the Bryant House
The Heart of Historic Ocala
Built in 1892, the Bryant House has stood at the center of Ocala’s history for well over a century. The residence carries a direct connection to Farris Bryant, who served as the 34th Governor of Florida from 1961 to 1965 — tying this single Ocala home to a pivotal chapter in state history.
Today, the house is far more than a historic residence. It serves as the headquarters of the Historic Ocala Preservation Society, hosting community gatherings, safeguarding local historical archives, and anchoring preservation advocacy throughout Marion County. For decades, it has been the command center for protecting Ocala’s history — and now, it needs the community to protect it back.
The Damage We're Facing
Why Now
Storm after storm has taken its toll. Successive hurricanes and severe weather have battered the Bryant House's aging structure, and without immediate repairs, Ocala risks losing this piece of its history for good.

Second-Floor Stabilization
Structural reinforcement to secure the upper level, the first and most urgent phase of repairs.
Foundational Work
Repairing the base structure that supports the entire building's integrity.
Porch Restoration
Rebuilding and repairing the historic porch damaged by successive storms.
Window Repairs
Restoring and repairing windows throughout the house, many original to the historic structure.
Exterior Protective Sealing
Sealing the exterior to prevent further weather damage and protect the building going forward.
A Phased Approach
Repairs are organized in stages — starting with emergency stabilization, then moving to full exterior and window restoration — so donors can see the direct impact of their support.
